My closet is about half vintage - that's kind of what happens when you thrift for a living - so it tends to be the sum of most of my outfits.
I never thought I'd have a half-vintage wardrobe. But, here I am and to me, in my humble opinion, it's better than ever. Being able to have a wardrobe that is sustainable and fashionable feels great.
There are some days when everything I'm wearing is vintage. Those are fun days. I feel like I'm stepping out of the norms of society and literally stepping back in time.
Or rather, time traveled to a different decade. Or perhaps, the past traveled to me. Whichever way it is, wearing things that folks wore 50+ years ago is magical.
Today, the jeans and turtleneck are new, but the cardigan and belt are vintage.
Cardigans (sweaters) and belts are my weakness (the vintage kind) so it's no wonder those are the things I have most of in my closet. The cardigan today is a men's cardigan, but man oh man... do I love leather buttons. This one is perfect.
The belt... well, can I just say how amazing it was to thrift this Indian head belt. In fifteen years, I've not come across one like it. And I am always searching for belts. So, I'm happy. I found it a couple months ago. It's one of my all-time favorites now.Anyway, it's a whole lot of blues today. And I just love it. It's vintage style which means it's a style all my own. That may be the best thing about wearing vintage - no one is wearing what you're wearing.
Happy Wednesday, my vintage friends.
