Shenandoah Pyrex 475 Casserole │ Vintage Pyrex Collection

A week or two ago, I found a vintage Pyrex Shenandoah casserole, in the largest size. When I came across her in the thrift store, I was going by memory on whether I had this piece or not.

I keep a running list on my phone of what I've found over the years, and I take pictures of my Pyrex closet to refer to during my sourcing quests. But often I can't see everything in the photo, nor are my notes as meticulous as they could be.

I couldn't remember having this size so I bit the bullet (knowing I could sell the piece if I already had it) and was thrilled to discover I didn't own it!

Now, I only need casseroles 473 and 474 and I'll have the complete set to this pattern. I love the pale yellow with the light green leaf motif. It's much more muted and mellow than some of the other patterns and colors vintage Pyrex usually is.

The book I use to refer to all of my finds is called Pyrex Passion. It's where some of the photos here are from. This book is phenomenal. For any Pyrex collector, it's a must. 

If you're not into Pyrex, that's okay. It's just a joy to be able to thrift my pieces still. 98% of my collection is thrifted. I started collecting Pyrex to keep my thrifting and sourcing for my Etsy shop fun.

And you know what? It's worked.

Vintage Thrift Haul of Vintage Denim │ My Thrifted Finds 9 July 2024

Today was an overall-finding day... again! Love it when the overalls show up. They're all '90s overalls but that's alright. They seem to not only be the most prevalent out there (because they're newer) but also in demand. Everyone needs a good pair of overalls to bash about in.

Found a vintage Levi's denim jacket, and belts today too. Even found an older '80s pair of 501s. 

The older 501s are so hard to find anymore. I'm lucky if I find one every other month. So when I saw that Levi's label, my heart was beating hard. Yes!♥

All items are headed to the shop this week.

Vintage '70s Goth Dress │ Haunted House Dress

I don't post often about items in my shop, other than new listings, but I have this dress that has been there for over eight months.  

It gets so much attention. Over 116 "likes" on this post, and it goes up daily. It is the most-looked-at item in my shop right now.

It's an early '70s black crepe gothic vibe dress. It has petite measurements, but it is spectacularly spooky. It's a mix between Wednesday Addams and a haunted house dress.

As I say in the listing, it's "creepy and gorgeous at the same time." I couldn't have said it better myself. (Wait...)

I think she's obviously waiting for the right buyer. It's an x-small (and best fits a petite). But, all the more reason that when it sells, it's going to the person who will wear the heck out of it.

Love the label, too.

So, she may be in the shop a bit longer than I anticipated, but that's alright. 

She's a beauty. And she's perfect for Halloween... 

Vintage Mug Monday │ Vintage Owl Mug

I have a beautiful little screech owl living outside my bedroom window.  He looks just like this family of owls on one of my own favorite vintage mugs.

Small, quiet, sweet, and the best guard western screech owl anyone could ever want. Owlie (my clever name for him) deserves to have a children's book written about him one day. So, I'm adding that to one of my writing goals.

Joan and Bruce Hart │ Quahog Hollow Boutique

I love finding unique vintage pieces. 

To wear, sell, research... it's all fascinating. Like a treasure hunt with a few side steps into rambling rabbit holes, getting to research items I've never seen before is a magical way to dive into new worlds - worlds I couldn't even imagine.

The randomness of it all is what makes it so magnificent. I have no idea what I'm going to find when I'm out sourcing for my shop.

I came across this beautiful wrap skirt just last week. Its pattern is of images of boats, sailing paraphernalia, and seascapes of Cape Cod... Orleans Mass, to be precise.

The label inside the skirt was tagged, made by Joan Hart. The fabric was dated to 1982 with the name Joan and Bruce E. Hart, with the name of their store, Quahog Hollow Boutique.

I did a quick Google search and came up with information about the artist Bruce E. Hart. 

He and his wife opened a boutique with his designs back in the late 1970s. There was a mass (pun intended) appeal with his whimsical and beautiful designs, and his work was in many shops across the Cape. All sorts of products had his designs. 

Just do a Quahog Hollow search and you'll find them.

I doubt there are very many skirts out there, which makes this one so special. I've only seen one other comp. Enjoy. I love his images... sea views, and nautical items. Especially on this hot day (and week) in the valley of California. 

I feel refreshed just looking at Hart's artwork.
